The White County Children's Safety Center
What is the White County Children's Safety Center?
The Child Safety Center is a place where children who have been in an abusive situation are able to come with their family and start an investigation of the abuse. Taken from the Child Safety Center's web site,“The Mission of the White County Children's Safety Center is to serve as a model center by promoting child friendly yet forensic investigations of child sexual abuse and serious physical abuse or neglect. This will be accomplished by providing interviews and medical exams that will protect a child's emotional needs while collecting valid forensic evidence, facilitating interagency communication and educating professionals as well as the public about child sexual abuse and serious physical abuse issues. The ultimate goals of the Center are to reduce the level of trauma the system currently imposes on children and to help increase prosecutions of legitimate cases so perpetrators can no longer offend other children.” For more information please visit their website by clicking here.
How Can I Help?
You can always donate financially to the Child Safety Center (see their website on how to do this at http://www.whitecountycsc.com/). The Child Safety Center also needs volunteers to help with cleaning the center, doing yard work, fund raising, donating snacks and drinks (each child that comes through the center receives a snack), making blankets (each child is given a blanket to take with them), donating coloring books (as the children wait during the interview process they are able to color), and donating blank DVD-R disks.
